Dr Yufeng Zhao

Yufeng joined the Centre for Advanced Microscopy (CAM) at ANU in July 2026 as a Life Science Electron Microscopy Specialist. She is passionate about supporting researchers and advancing scientific discovery through cutting-edge electron microscopy techniques.

Yufeng’s career commenced with research in hydrobiology, microscopy, taxonomy and ecology with a focus on protozoology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She then obtained a PhD in molecular microbiology from the Huazhong Agricultural University, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship in bioengineering area at University of Ottawa in Canada.

Before joining ANU, Yufeng worked for more than five years within the Cryo - Electron Microscopy Facility at the University of Wollongong, specialising in cryo-EM and electron crystallography. Her expertise includes cryo-EM single particle analysis (SPA), microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED, also known as 3D ED), complex electron diffraction data processing and analysis using DIALS, and cryo - electron tomography (cryo-ET).
